June's match between the United States and Japan will be played in Los Angeles according to a release from U.S.A. Rugby. Although not officially announced by U.S.A. Rugby, Hawaii had been the original venue of choice. It's unclear why the match has been moved other than the assumption that logistics would have been difficult. With Japan set to play Samoa in Tokyo, then Canada in Vancouver it might have been too much for them to make the trip out to Hawaii all while getting ready for Italy back in Tokyo in a four week span. The Hawaii location would also make it difficult for U.S. fans to travel to the match.
The match will be played at the StubHub Center. The Eagles will be very familiar with the venue after having played Tonga there last year. That match was not well attended when compared to other recent Eagles matches and was predominantly a home Tongan crowd. That aside, it is one of the better venues for rugby in the country and is a convenient location for those wishing to travel to a match.
