We better get used to the fact that there isn't going to be a consensus college national champion for awhile. It was clear while at the Varsity Cup over the weekend that both BYU and Cal were certain that whoever won their match would be considered national champion. This week at the DI-A final both St. Mary's and Life are going to make the same claim. Both of their arguments have merit and both sets of fanbases aren't going to agree anytime soon. In my latest column for RugbyRugby I suggest that having two major college championships isn't necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it is creating an arms race in which teams get better. While it would be nice if all of the top teams would play in one tournament it simply isn't going to happen at the moment. In the end it's about high quality rugby, so sit back, relax, and enjoy as college rugby evolves.
