The Boy's High School All-Americans opening their tour of South America with a 48-8 defeat to the Cordoba Academy. An early Ben Cima penalty made it only 7-3 before Cordoba rattled off 41 straight points. The All-Americans finished the match off on a positive note with a try. The match was not a formal match like the team will play against Argentina, Italy, and Uruguay later in the week and next week but rather a 70 minute scrimmage that would allow the players to get their feet wet and give head coach Salty Thompson and opportunity to test out his players.
Last year the U.S. split a pair of matches with Cordoba. The region is known for being one of the strongest in Argentina. The U.S. will play the Argentina U-18 team next Saturday, followed by Italy U-18 on Wednesday and the Uruguay U-18/U-19 the following Saturday.
