It's been known for awhile but U.S.A. Rugby made it official today that Mike Friday would be the next head coach of the men's Eagles 7s team. As expected Friday will keep his job as Director of Rugby for London Scottish while overseeing the Eagles from London. Assistant coach Chris Brown will be the man on the ground in Chula Vista while Director of 7s Alex Magleby will have a large role as well.
Friday has experience coaching both the England and Kenyan 7s sides. While he was in charge of Kenya he led them to a third place finish at the World Cup 2013 but also created friction in the side by choosing to coach remotely.

In the press release from U.S.A. Rugby Friday said, “I am naturally delighted and excited about the challenge of returning to the IRB World Sevens circuit and starting a new Sevens journey with the USA Eagles. The program will be run much like how I implemented the successful performance cycle program in the past, which will allow me the ability to continue in my role as director of rugby at London Scottish. I am fortunate to have both the full support of London Scottish and the USA Eagles and look forward to an exciting season ahead for both club and country.”
