World Arena Rugby (WAR), which announced in June that it's kick-off tournament would be held on August 16-18 at Event Center in Allen, TX, has cancelled ticket sales after only a week of availability on Ticketmaster. WAR CEO Mark Savoy, a long-time member of the Eagle Rock Rugby Club, confirmed that tournament had been postponed in a phone interview this afternoon.
Savoy has been very forthcoming about the rocky road WAR has endured to this point. Savoy sang high praise about the professionalism of the Allen Event Center and the generosity of WAR's sponsors. However, he lamented the postponement citing a less-than-adequate marketing strategy as the preliminary cause.

Savoy is adamant that despite this setback is temporary. WAR still plans to hold it's inaugural season beginning in June of 2014. A formal press release on the matter and update to the WAR website is expected in the next few days.
