In earning a hard 20-18 victory Canada not only beat Fiji for the first time in 18 years but took the lead atop of the Pacific Nations Cup standings after two matches. Canada were to get on the board first after captain Aaron Carpenter finished off some strong running by match MVP Phil Mack. But Fiji responded with an impressive try through big centre Nemani Nadolo. Canada would trail at the half by a point but second half tries through Harry Jones and Ray Barkwill were enough to see Canada through. Fiji scored a late try through Akapusi Qera. The win now gives Canada eight points from two matches to go atop the PNC standings. The team will face a short turnaround before taking on Tonga in Kingston on Saturday.
