For the second straight match the Eagles have scored a half a century or more points at the NACRA 7s. With their 50-0 win over Mexico they move to 2-0 and are very much in the driver's seat heading into tomorrow's final pool match against Jamaica. Despite the eventual score line Mexico proved to be a challenge at times although the U.S. still dominated. One of the aspects in which Mexico challenged the U.S. was in the air on restarts. They were able to disrupt the U.S. a few times which should give the Eagles warning ahead of Canada.
Good passing from the Eagles to open the match set up Maka Unufe for the first score. The U.S. then kept more possession leading to Perry Baker. When Mexico did have the ball in the half the U.S. rose to the occasion with a very strong defensive performance. That defensive work led to a try from Folau Niua to finish out the half at 19-0.

In the second half the U.S. turned up the pressure. Perry Baker showed plenty of pace as he beat three Mexican defenders for the score. Danny Barrett then showed his power as the U.S. picked up their second of the half. At that point Carlin Isles took over as he scored thanks to some very fancy footwork that evaded numerous defenders. He nearly repeated the feat a minute later but was brought down just short of the line. Chris Wyles was there to capitalize to score his first 7s try in years. Isles then finished off the match with a try.
In two matches this U.S. has outscored their opponents 104-0 and looked good. They will play Jamaica at 9:00 a.m. et/6:00 a.m. pt tomorrow. Barring something of a miracle they will finish at the top of their pool. Canada finished their day at 3-0 and have one pool match tomorrow.
Starters: Hughes, Durutalo, Niua, Unufe, Baker, Barrett, Bender
