Coming off the disappointment of missing out on a chance to play for the gold medal the Eagles endured a sluggish start against Uruguay only to go on and claim the bronze medal with a 40-12 win. At the end of the day the U.S. will be unhappy to only come away with the bronze medal and will look to take out their frustrations next season. If there is a positive to take away from the tournament it's that the Eagles got a good look at some players that didn't have a chance to play on the Series this year.
It took less than a minute for the Eagles to get on the board as Perry Baker scored his first try of the match to put the U.S. up 7-0. Still, Uruguay struck right back through Rodiro Silva Pisano to level the score at 7-7.

The U.S. had most of the possession in the first half but Uruguay made them work for it and the U.S. was repeatedly stuck in their own end. However, the U.S. kept coming and when Baker found time and space he was away for the long distance try and a 14-7 lead.
Steve Tomasin would equal Baker's try output with efforts on either side of the half to extend the lead. Tomasin then had a hand in the Eagles's final try as he sent in a nice backhanded offload to Mike Te'o. Uruguay closed out the match with a final try.
The U.S. will now enter a break before getting back together ahead of the World Sevens Series.
