Pre-game: As we wrote in our preview, even if the result doesn't go their way, which is likely, the Eagles can still take a lot out of this match.
Pre-game: Off the field this match will be really interesting to watch to see how many people turn out. Going up against the opening weekend of college football it will be a good test.
Pre-game: A couple of questions for folks tuning in. What's the over under on the length of time before the match actually begins? What are your predictions for the result?
Pre-game: Decent coverage from NBCSN so far. Now, only to show the match.
 And we're underway!
U.S. defense solid early. The first scrum it's not good for the Eagles. Second scrum equally as bad. Uh oh.
U.S. penalized for offside. Australia not going for the points but for the line out.
A huge hit from Seamus Kelly but another penalty on the U.S. earlier. Peterson already getting warned.
And there is the yellow card on Peterson. Australia still going for the try. You think Peterson was jacked up for this match after growing up in Australia. Thiel on for Fengolio who has a bleeding nose.
Try Australia! And it's Bernard Foley with the try out of the scrum. Hard to maintain a man down in the scrum. The conversion is good. Australia 7-0 Eagles. Nine minutes gone.
Fenoglio back in for Thiel. U.S. trying to kick into territory but it leads to a scrum after a knock-on.
And there is try number two off a 22 meter clearance kick. It's a couple of missed tackles then a pass rom Wycliff Palu find Nick Phipps. Hard not to appreciate how Australia play. Top quality. Foley's conversion is good. Australia 14-0 Eagles. Peterson back on. Scully off injured.
First stretch of good possession for the Eagles and it gains them a penalty. MacGinty will kick for the posts. Niua on for Scully. The kick is good. Australia 14-3 Eagles. 20 minutes gone. Nice kick.
Samu Manoa nearly with the intercept but it's knocked on. Not intentional. Scully looks clear to come back on. Finally a good scrum from the Eagles.
Defense is getting better for the Eagles and they have more going on offense.
U.S. penalized for being offside. They are going for the line out rather than the points again.
Australia nearly through again but Petri is able to force Giteau to cough up the ball just meters short.
The ball is spilled, MacGinty soccer kicks forward, and then Wyles muscles Tomane into touch.
Try Petri! Durutalo takes the ball out of the ruck, Fry runs a few meters and then it's swung out to Ngwenya who makes a break and finds Petri! What a try and a huge boost. That was the try of the summer! MacGinty's conversion is good. Eagles 10-14 Australia. Great response from the Eagles.
Kicking game is creeping into the Eagles again. That's probably not good.
U.S. with some possession but MacGinty's kick is shanked. Australia with possession but U.S. defense coming up big. Al McFarland is going to go off for a concussion test. Danny Barrett on.
U.S. tries the maul but Australia turn it over. Opportunity gone wanting. Australia push after the halftime hooter but Speight knocks it on.
Halftime. After a first few nervy minutes a great half for the Eagles. They are adjusting to a higher level. Only 4 down. Great spot.
The second half is underway! U.S. defense holding once again and they gain a penalty.
Australia with a couple of penalties early in the second half. The U.S. will be loving that. Quill on for McFarland at halftime. U.S. with an attacking line out but they knock it on. Another good possession gone.
U.S. penalized in a kickable place but they are still going for the corner.
Try Australia! Sean McMahon punches it in off of a maul. Once again the Eagles give up a try off the maul.
Foley's conversion is good. Australia 21-10 Eagles.
Match has slowed down a bit as Australia look to grind the U.S. down.
Another try to Australia after good phase play. It's Dean Mumm. It feels like this one is firmly getting away from the Eagles. The conversion is good. Australia 28-10 Eagles. Thiel on for Fenoglio.
Baumann and Kilifi on for Lamositele and Fry. Dolan is now off with an injury. Stanfill on.
U.S. gain a penalty and will go for the line out. Great attitude from the team. It's all about World Cup prep. And the U.S. are pinged for holding on. Another opportunity gone.
Lou Stanfill getting things intense with the Wallabies. John Quill also involved, as always. Veterans trying to get the team amped.
Penalty against the Eagles in the scrum. There has been a noticeable drop off in that department this summer after Lamositele and Fry.
Crazy sequence where Wyles nearly breaks away from the try off the Stanfill kick. Tomane catches him. Phases lead to a penalty. Now the line out is long and Australia counter leading to Kurtley Beale scoring in the corner. Yikes. The conversion is good. Australia 35-10 with ten minutes left.
Shalom Suniula on for MacGinty. This time the Eagles line out is good.
TMO being used after Quade Cooper thinks he has a try. The try is given at the conversion is good. Australia 42-10 Eagles. Five minutes left.
Referee talks to the AR and he's going to talk to Danny Barrett. No card. Play on.
Australia punch in one final try from Taqele Naiyaravoro. Once again it comes off a turnover at the line out. The conversion is no good. Australia 47-10 Eagles. Only seconds left.
And that's the final. Good first half for the Eagles. Depth and experience of Australia shine though.
