England delivered a dominant performance to win 28-5 over the U.S. in pool play at the Dubai 7s. The loss, coupled with the earlier loss to Fiji, means that the U.S. will miss out on the Cup quarterfinals and will look for some consolation later with a match against Canada.

Starting early in the match and staying consistent throughout England showed terrific 7s rugby. Capitalizing on a U.S. penalty, England earned their first try of the match by subsequently staying patient and waiting for gaps. That gap finally came for Alex Gray has he found the U.S. standing still for the easy try roughly two and a half minutes in.

They would soon get on the board once again through similar patient play. This time it was James Rodwell with the finish. Just like against Fiji, every time the Eagles had a decent spell of possession it would come to an end with either a penalty of a turnover. That would prove costly as Marcus Watson scored England's third try of the half after the U.S. gave up the ball on a silly penalty.

The second half didn't change any of the momentum in favor of the Eagles. The U.S. defense did well to keep England out of the tryzone for the first few minutes but eventually the pressure would become too much as Tom Mitchell made it 28-0.

The U.S. did catch a break with Dan Norton was sent to the bin for a cynical tackle of Folau Niua but they weren't able to take advantage. Their best chance during the period came when it looked as if they had Carlin Isles out wide but he wasn't able to hold on to the ball. However, Isles did got on the board at the very end of the match after England turned the ball over and the ball found it's way into Isles's hands for a try in the corner. Final: England 28-5 Eagles.

The U.S. will now play Canada at 9:02 a.m. et/6:02 a.m. pt.

Starters: Edwards, Test, Durutalo, Thompson, Niua, Mizell, Tomasin

Subs Used: Carlin Isles, Pat Blair, Nu'u Punimata, Miles Craigwell
