As was mentioned, the U.S. actually started out the match on a bright note. Zack Test did well to win the restart and the U.S. were able to keep a big of possession. Test was particularly active and was justly rewarded with a try. He had stolen the ball at the breakdown to set up the U.S. possession. Despite some sloppy play they were able to keep the ball where Test eventually ran a good line, received the pass, and scored.

The Eagles would then win the subsequent restart and had another opportunity to score a try when Folau Niua sent through a nice grubber but Test was unable to hold on. But that would be the extent of any positive play from the team as Australia dominated from then on out.
Australia picked up their first try after they caught the U.S. defense organized a played keep away from the length of the field try. With the conversion it was 7-7. Folau Niua was then given a yellow card for killing the ball. The Wallabies quickly took advantage for another try.
Things got even worse a few minutes later as Steve Tomasin was also shown yellow after a late hit on an Australia players when that player tried to send a grubber through to himself. That card allowed Australia to score a third try and make it 21-7 at halftime.
In the second half the Eagles continued their poor play, especially on the defensive end. They gave up four more tries to make the final 47-7.
The team can still win the Shield with two straight wins but given their current form that seems unlikely. The play France at 3:43 a.m. et/12:43 a.m. pt.
