Colby Rugby Given One More Year

You may remember a few weeks ago we told you about the Colby College's struggle to keep its program after the College's administration had decided to end it. Now it looks like the program has been given another year.

At the time Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty Lori Kletzer expressed "concern over college costs and a growing awareness of the health and safety risks of a high collision/contact sport" as the reason for dropping the program. Current players, alumni, and friends of the program then put together a petition to avoid the cuts. Approximately 4,100 people signed that petition.

It should be stressed that the future of the program is not completely safe and that they will still have to fight for their program but at least they will have one more year to show their worth.
