Some folks were wondering why Matt Hawkins did not mention Carlin Isles in his most recent interview with Curtis Reed here on TIAR. Well, we can wonder no more. Justin Rogers at mlive.com reports that the Detroit Lions have signed Carlin to a futures contract, along with nine others. Futures contracts do no take effect until the beginning of a season (March 11 for 2014) when NFL teams are allowed to expand their roster to 90 players and it is a non-guaranteed, league-minimum deal. This means Carlin may indeed be in attendance at Vegas 7s, but one has to doubt that he would play and risk an injury that would prevent him from collecting that NFL paycheck.
We wish the best for Carlin as he dons the silver and blue. Thanks for all the exhilarating tries!
