One of the main ideas behind the Pacific Rugby Premiership was to give domestic players more high-level games. While players overseas have league matches every weekend domestic players were often left with meaningless matches against inferior clubs. That is not something that was going to improve the Eagles player pool. If this last weekend was any indication that the PRP is beginning to partially replicate an overseas environment than the tournament is well on its way to being a success.

For us the epitome of what the competition can do for players is Zach Pangelinan and his Rugby Marketplace Player of the Week performance for OMBAC against Santa Monica last weekend. Pangelinan was a massive presence for the club, scoring crucial points to keep them in the game and then scoring the final try to five OMBAC the come from behind wins. It's the type of pressure situation against a high-level opponent that has to make Eagles coach Mike Tolkin happy. Full credit should go to Pangelinan for stepping up and taking control of the game when he needed to.
