Carlin Isles will be returning to the United States to take another crack at making the Olympics, the Glasgow Warriors announced today. Isles hasn't been with the team for the entire summer but instead has been training with London Scottish with an eye toward signing a deal. Now Direct of Rugby and former backs coach for London Scottish Mike Friday was instrumental in trying to get him to the club. It's unclear why a deal couldn't go through but most likely it's due to Isles not having a cap at the senior 15 level and thus unable to secure a visa.
Isles now returns to the U.S. and should be headed into Eagles 7s team but with the current coaching situation in flux it's still up in the air. Although he didn't make a league appearance for the Warriors he did play with Ayr in the Scottish Premiership and did help Glasgow take home the Melrose 7s. Lately he has been playing with Samurai at various tournaments.
