Through two rounds the Kansas City Blues have shown themselves to be one of the surprise teams. They were beaten by Seattle in their first match but they made them work for it in a way few teams have done to Seattle this year. In round two they beat a very organized New Orleans team 33-10 to give them the edge heading into their last match of the day. Ed Mills scored two tries for the Blues. Not a surprise are Seattle who cruised for the second time on the day beating Schuylkill River 29-7. Five different players scored for Seattle while Randy Helsman scored for Schuylkill River. Seattle are through the quarterfinals but all three of the other teams are still alive.

NYAC made a strong impressive with their 36-7 win over the Austin Blacks. Nate Brakeley was impressive for the team as he was able to impose his physicality. Kyle Granby and Justin Hundley were also strong. Two wins means that NYAC are in the quarterfinals.

Denver are the other side from Pool D through to the quarterfinals after they beat Santa Monica 19-7. The Barbarians got off to a great start with Kevon Williams showing his speed. Michael Al-Jiboori next took the ball out of a ruck for his try. Bobby Impson then capped off the scoring for the Barbarians while Stu Sharpe scored for the Dolphins.

In Pool B both Old Blue and Belmont Shore advanced. Old Blue beat 1823 24-12 in a very physical and feisty match. Both teams contest hard at the breakdown. Marcus Henderson, Derek Lipscomb, Dan Freed-Pastor, and Nate Augspurger all scored for Old Blue. Henderson in particular was emphatic in his celebration much to the derision of the 1823. The match was very close until the final minutes when Old Blue pulled away. Belmont Shore beat the Maryland Exiles 19-10.

The Chicago Lions will make the quarterfinals from Pool C. They were taken to the limit by a very organized, strong, and quick Atlanta Harlequins but eventually prevailed 10-5. The Lions scored first before the Harlequins made a fantastic try. The Lions scored at the end. The East Palo Alto Razorbacks also made the quarterfinals. They beat the Hawaii Titans 38-17

Women

From Pool A in the women's division the Berkeley All Blues and the Chicago Lions have clinched spots in the quarterfinals with their second wins of the day. The All Blues beat Philadelphia 12-5 in a tight match while the Lions beat the Bluebonnets 29-5.

In Pool B, the San Diego Surfers defeated Old Blue 21-7 to make it two wins in two tries. The D.C. Furies pounced on Mana Wahine 55-0. Old Blue should be the favorites to advance as they play the Hawaiians next while the Furies must play the Surfers.

Thanks to a 17-17 draw between Youngbloodz and ICEF Pool C is still up in the air. Youngbloodz came from behind in that match to earn a draw at the end. In the other match the Atlanta Harlequins beat the Sacramento Amazons 19-12.

Lastly in in Pool D, ORSU beat the Mountain Rugby Selects and NOVA beat New York 15-0.  Both ORSU and NOVA won their first two matches meaning they will make the quarterfinals.
