Eagles Abroad: Weekend Review

It was a quite weekend for most Americans overseas as injuries, rest, and personal leave put many on the sidelines. That includes the injured Blaine Scully and Taku Ngwenya. Among the players to see time is Eric Fry, who continues to see good time off the bench, and occasionally starting, for Newcastle. With the World Cup approaching getting playing time for a player like Fry is crucial. They aren't playing in the Premiership but Hayden Smith and Thretton Palamo suited up today for Saracens Storm in the 'A' League. Elsewhere, the regular season wrapped up in Japan. Todd Clever is almost certainly on his way out at the NTT Shining Arcs while Anthony Estrella had a strong end of the season for Toshiba.

Neither Blaine Scully nor Greg Peterson were in the line-up for Leicester as they lost to Harlequins 32-12 on Saturday.

Neither Samu Manoa nor Cam Dolan were in the line-up as they lost to Sale 20-7 on Saturday. Manoa is on personal leave.

Eric Fry came off the bench and played 19 minutes for Newcastle as they beat London Welsh 38-7 on Sunday.

Tom Bliss was not in the line-up for Wasps as they lost to Bath 39-26 on Saturday. 

None of Chris Wyles, Thretton Palamo, Hayden Smith, or Titi Lamositele (injured) were in the line-up for Saracens as they lost to Gloucester 24-23 last Friday. Smith started and Palamo came off the bench for Saracens Storm in the 'A' League today.

Hanco Germishuys is with the Gloucester academy. 

Hanno Dirksen was an unused substitute for the Ospreys as they beat the Dragons 22-11 on Sunday. 

Callum Black started and played 80 minutes while Dave Ryan was not in the line-up for Ulster as they beat Benetton Treviso 24-20 on Sunday.

Neither James Hilterbrand nor Brett Thompson were not in the line-up for Edinburgh as they beat Connacht 16-13 last Friday.

Tai Tuisamoa was not in the line-up for London Scottish as they beat Yorkshire Carnegie 26-22 on Saturday. 

Will Magie and Old Albanians lost to Blackheath 33-8 on Saturday. 

Ronnie McLean and Ealing beat Wharfedale 78-12 on Saturday.

Robbie Shaw and Esher lost to Flyde 48-17 on Saturday.

Tim Maupin, Pierce Dargan, Conor Kearns and Trinity beat Ballymena 18-16 on Saturday. Kearns had a conversion and two penalties. 

Liam Murphy came off the bench and played 78 minutes for Clontarf as they lost to Ross Deacon, Gearoid McDonald, and Lansdowne 35-0 on Saturday. Neither Deacon nor McDonald played. 

Liam Bourke and UCD lost to John Quill and Dolphin 34-15 on Saturday.

Scott LaValla was not in the line-up for Stade Francais as they beat Castres 49-13 last Friday. LaValla was rested.

Taku Ngwenya was not in the line-up for Biarritz as they lost to Aurillac 24-20 on Saturday. Ngwenya is injured. 

Inaki Basauri came off the bench and played 23 minutes for Tarbes as they lost to Agen 31-9 on Saturday.

Roland Suniula and Chalon lost to Bressane 38-29 on Sunday.

Seta Tuilevuka and ROC La Voulte-Valence beat Carqueiranne-Hyeres 53-21 on Sunday.

Mate Moeakiola and Castanet lost to Angouleme 19-13 on Sunday.

Nick Civetta was not in the line-up for Viadana as they lost to Calvisano 41-10 on Sunday.

Christian Ostberg played 80 minutes for Alghero as they beat Gussago 43-6 on Sunday.

Todd Clever was not in the line-up for the NTT Shining Arcs as they lost to Anthony Estrella and Toshiba Fuchu Brave Lupus 31-14 on Sunday. Estrella came off the bench and played 14 minutes. 

Marcel Brache and the Perth Spirit have finished their season.

Tom Coolican, James McMahon and the Sydney Stars have finished their season.

Toni Pulu and Counties Manukau have finished their season.

Michelle Wong is training and playing with Sydenham.

Mika Maeva and Garrett Jones are training and playing with Marist.

Graham Harriman and James Bay have finished the first part of their season.
