The Falcons have gone 2-1 in pool play at the Vina del Mar 7s and will face Chile tomorrow in the Cup quarterfinals. Despite tying with Argentina and Canada at 2-1 the Falcons took the number two seed on point differential with Argentina finishing first.
The day began with the U.S. taking on Argentina who were once again featuring a few players that play regularly on the World Sevens Series. Argentina got on the board first when Nico Bruzzone scored just a minute into the match but the U.S. struck back through two tries from Mike Teo to take a 14-7 lead. Argentina's Diaz Bonilla would score to make it 14-14 at halftime. The Falcons would own the second as tries from Ben Leatigaga and Will Holder would give them a 29-14 win.

Unfortunately for the Falcons they couldn't keep the same mojo going in their second match of the day against Canada. The U.S. got off to a terrific start with Zach Pangelinan scoring twice in the second and third minutes. Canada would score before halftime to make it 14-7 at the break. In the second half Jordan Best scored to knot the score up at 14-14 and then Canada will score a final unconverted try to make it 19-14.
The last match of the day saw the Falcons matched up against an Invitational team that had struggled throughout the day. The U.S. didn't give up a try on their way to a 29-0 win. Steve Tomasin, Pangelinan, and Teo all scored along with a few other unidentified players. Despite the large win it wasn't enough to overcome the point differential of Argentina.
The U.S. will now play Chile in the quarterfinals. There was a separate bracket featuring Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, and Peru. Uruguay finished top in the pool, Brazil second, Chile third, and Peru fourth.
