Thanks to a surprise loss to Chile in the quarterfinals the Falcons had to settle for firth place at the Vina del Mar 7s. In the end the Falcons will be somewhat happy with their overall 4-2 record at the tournament but more importantly this tournament, combined with last week's tournament in Mar del Plata, gives members of the team high level experience that will help them push for a spot on the Eagles as they head into Wellington and Las Vegas.

As mentioned, the day began with the Falcons falling to Chile. Francisco Urroz and Alfonso Rioja scored two first half tries to give Chile a 12-0 lead at the half. Pat Blair would score first in the second half to make it 12-5 but a final try from Pancho Metuaze would make the final 17-5.

In the other quarterfinal matches Argentina beat Peru, Brazil beat Canada, and Uruguay beat the Invitational 7s side. That meant that in the Plate semi-finals the U.S. found themselves once again matched up with the Invitational 7s. Like on day one the Falcons had no difficulty as Mike Teo, Zack Pangelinan (twice), Ben Leatigaga, and Colton and Cariaga would score for the 33-0 victory.

Canada also won their semi-final match to make the Plate final between Canada and the Falcons. Pila Taufa would get the Falcons on the board and then Steve Tomasin would score to make it 10-0 at the break. In the second half the Falcons continued to dominate with another try from Taufa, and tries from Teo and Cariaga to make the final 29-0. It was a solid win for a team that had lost to Canada just the day before.

In other matches the Invitational 7s beat Peru 33-5 for 7th place, Chile beat Brazil 7-5 for third place, and Argentina beat Uruguay 31-1 for first place.
