Belmont Shore Win OMBAC 7s
The first leg of the SoCal qualifying series took place last weekend at the OMBAC 7s in San Diego. Belmont Shore, a powerhouse in 7s, cruised through the competition beating Santa Monica in the final 52-7. They now have 22 points in the standings with three tournaments to go. In pool play Belmont Shore beat OMBAC 2 47-0 and the OC Ravens 26-0. That earned them a bye to the semi-finals where they beat the AZ Academy 42-5. The other semi-final saw Santa Monica beat OMBAC 24-19.
The AZ Academy eventually took third place with a 15-12 win over OMBAC. Olympic Club made the trip down from the Bay Area and finished in fifth place. They beat the OC Ravens 22-7 while the San Diego 7s and Pasadena shared 7th place.

1823 Start Midwest Series With A Victory
1823 started off the Midwest 7s Series by beating themselves in Madison, Wisconsin. Fielding a couple of strong sides both 1823 A and 1823 B. As with last year the biggest challenge for 1823 was the Chicago Lions. In Madison both of their A teams were paired with Youngbloodz. Still, it didn't prove to be a problem as 1823 beat the Lions and topped the group. 1823 B also won their pool while the Chicago Griffins won Pool A. Next up is the Lakefront 7s.
Army Wins Monk Vaughn 7s
The Mid-Atlantic also kicked off their season with the Monk Vaughn 7s taking place in Virginia. It was a Army Selects side that would eventually come away with the title beating NOVA 43-5. The Army team is getting ready for the Serevi RugbyTown 7s later in the summer and used OTC players in Will Holder, Ben Leatigaga, and Andrew Locke to go in for the win. Matti Tago, another player on the Eagles radar, also played well. Baltimore-Chesapeake beat Schuylkill River in the 3rd place match.
