Although the U.S. offense finally came alive it was their defense that was the difference. England had almost every opportunity stunted by the Eagles. That defense eventually led to offense. After some great work by Vix Folayan and Kelly Griffin to draw in the defense the ball was swung out to the speedy Javelet for the try. With the conversion the Eagles led 7-0.

They would extend their lead only a few minutes later when Javelet scored her second try. With only two minutes to go in the half the Eagles led 14-0. But as they did against Canada they weren't able to finish out the half on a strong note. Amy Wilson-Hardy was able to cut through the U.S. defense to race down for the try. However, the conversion wasn't successful meaning the halftime score stayed at 14-5.
England kept pressing in the second half but the U.S. defense held firm (also aided by England mistakes). The U.S. then pushed their advantage to 19-5 when Javelet scored the third of her tries. All in all, it was a much better performance from the Eagles who are getting stronger and stronger with every match. They have a legitimate chance of defeating Spain in the Plate final.
