Eagles Abroad: Weekend Review

Good news for Americans at Saracens and Northampton over the weekend as both of those teams advanced to the European Champions Cup quarterfinals. Both Samu Manoa and Chris Wyles earned the starts for their clubs but they didn't emerge with a win. Eric Fry also made it to the European Challenge Cup quarterfinals as he came off the bench in the Falcons win. Elsewhere, Todd Clever played his last match in Japan as NTT Shining Arcs fell out of the playoffs. Anthony Estrella played his last match of the season for Toshiba Fuchu Brave Lupus as they also lost in the playoffs. Also, Nick Civetta came off the bench for Viadana as they inched closer to a spot in next year's Challenge Cup.

Neither Blaine Scully nor Greg Peterson were in the line-up for Leicester as they lost to Callum Black, Dave Ryan, and Munster 26-7 on Saturday. Black started and played 64 minutes for Ulster while Ryan was not in the line-up.

Samu Manoa started and played 63 minutes while Cam Dolan was not in the line-up for Northampton as they lost to Racing Metro 32-8 on Saturday.

Tom Bliss was not in the line-up for Wasps as they drew with Leinster 20-20 on Saturday. 

Chris Wyles started and played 80 minutes for Saracens while none of Thretton Palamo, Hayden Smith, or Titi Lamositele (injured) were in the line-up as they lost to Clermont 18-6 on Sunday.

Neither James Hilterbrand nor Brett Thompson were in the line-up for Edinburgh as they beat Bordeaux 38-20 last Friday. Thompson is still injured.

Eric Fry came off the bench and played 27 minutes for Newcastle as they beat Bucuresti 52-10 on Saturday.

Tai Tuisamoa and London Scottish had the weekend off. 

Will Magie and Old Albanians lost to Loughborough 30-20 on Saturday. 

Ronnie McLean and Ealing beat Richmond 63-36 on Saturday.

Robbie Shaw and Esher lost to Darlington Mowden Park 30-22 on Saturday.

Christian Ostberg came off the bench for Chinnor as they lost to the Southend Saxons 18-14 on Saturday.

Jona Cali and Grove beat Banbury 27-9 on Saturday.

Inaki Basauri started and played 70 minutes for Tarbes as they lost to Perpignan 23-19 on Sunday.

Nick Civetta came off the bench and played 36 minutes for Viadana as they beat El Salvador 36-7 in European Challenge Cup qualifying on Saturday.
